Check List for Employment Contracts

The following should be included in any contract related to a theatre production. When hiring to go on tour the performance schedule and travelling arrangements should be described in great detail.

Check List

  • Information about any and all agreements that the contract is subject to
  • Main place of employment
  • Name of employee and employer as well as job description
  • Performance title, name of part, director etc.
  • Wages, per diems and other relevant economic issues
  • Job assignment(s)
  • Obligations: participation in PR and marketing, meetings, costume fittings, evaluation etc.
  • Time frame, including rehearsals, travelling time, holidays, a potential prolongation etc.
  • Days off etc.
  • Specific (individual) agreements
  • Confidentiality clause
  • Term of notice
  • Signatures
